Renters are not bottom tier

People who pay HOA or Strata fees are.

Sure, stuff is taken care of like garbage and maybe you have a crappy community gym or pool.

But how would you deal with an over reaching strata council member who just never gives up harrassing you for everything possible? They will just keep fining you and putting liens on your "owned" cube or post stamp of "land"

I don't live in a HOA, but I can see the appeal of having ALL outside maintenance done for you for a small fee without the hassle of managing it yourself. However, I could never live in one. I was renting a sports car and was visiting someone who lives in one and got kicked out because they said my exhaust made too much noise. (Super Ded fkn Srs)

But in all seriousness, living in one of those cookie cutter subdivisions where the houses are all identical, small (like 1,700 ft), 5 feet from each other, and on 1/8 acre lots sounds pretty bad. And they're cheap enough that undesirables can also afford to live there, prices in the low 200K range.

If you're choice is that or renting in a nice area I'd say rent until you can afford better.

I live in a condo with HOA ....this is still miles ahead of renting imo

Don't like what's going on with the hoa and all of that?

Just list the place and get your $$ back and profits on top of that...easily done if you are in a half respectable location

Renting you get nothing , ever .

I've had a couple run ins my with my hoa but fuk em ..just gotta go about your business and not let them live rent free in the head.

Condo HOA is completely different then a house HOA. A condo it makes complete sense. The only way I would buy a house with a HOA is if it was a rental. Lots of HOA's allow rentals but with a HOA you can keep your tenants in lone way more.

I know someone who complained to the HOA that a resident had a Victorian lamp on an Edwardian coffee table.
