How to get my coworker fired/transferred

I work with this hard headed old timer that’s been in my industry for 13 years and has maybe 1/4 of my knowledge in both technical aspects and in practice.

He is stubborn as a mule and does nothing but hold the team and I back. I want him gone as he is a net loss to the team but I’m afraid that he’s been here so long that my complaints will fall on deaf ears.

We’re talking about a guy that is maybe the #4 guy in a 5 person team, with the #5 guy being brand new to the industry all together, and will soon be technically more sound than the old guy.

Some might call him a “useful idiot”, but in all honesty he’s just an idiot.

How do I approach this with management?
