what am I lacking in life?
Semi srs post for the misc analysts
29-Married- CPA - 100k Salary
I struggle with understanding who I am. I feel cold and empty sometimes but have somehow managed to live a functional life and career. Probably maxed at 100k because I just lack the passion to make it any further.
I've realised friends are crap and started to delve into a solo life of drinking whiskey and watching hbo shows.
I feel empty a lot of the time and find myself watching a lot of content from 2002-2008, probably what I would consider my favour years of my life. A lot of charting music, sports highlights, WWE etc.
Sometimes think I might be on the spectrum for finding so much pleasure in the past.

You come out and post some very vanilla and materialistic facts, implying they’re details you somehow find import, and then ask why you feel so empty
Gee I wonder
Go back to your spreadsheets and middle class income faaggot lol

It's because pre 2012 was a more creative, positive and cheerful time. I do the same thing i just watch youtube retro chit and play retro games because the vibes are a million times better and it has true emotion in it. This reality now is very flat emotionally and spiritual and pretty damn depressing tbh.
I grew up watching WWE since 1999 and dude nothing is like that anymore. It was a different world back then.
I can still find good metal bands but that's about it now

・
How do you expect to feel (ingesting/digesting/absorbing) things that don't serve you?
(( ie: things of the past for pure entertainment puproses aka distraction ))
・
Speaking/typing "..I don't think it will ever be the same." over yourself as if that's a negative thing.
(( the reality is you can ensure it be greater! | If you make it so. ))
・
I'm sure you're aware of the power of words + how what dominates your mind is lived out in life correct?
Since that is how the body-mind seems to work. | How can it not?
May as well "brainwash"(carve/create) yourself in the most empowering, truthful, and fruitful manner right?
・
・
Questions OP:
Can you define your ideal life reality?
Are you there now or living towards your ideal life reality?
Can you be alone & silent for great periods of time?
Can you define what you value, love, and find joy of in this life?
Do you know what man you would like to die as?
(( whether that be this very moment or at the great age of 120+ ))
Do you have any connection to God | Nature/Stillness/Self?
(( regardless of what we call. I'd affrim it points the same way. ))
・
・
No need to answer them my brother; I would humbly state that points in the correct direction.
This world is empty + sugar-like.
You cannot expect to "fill" yourself purely with the things of this world + playing games only made very recently and not feel empty.
・
Sincerely best OP.
I know all to well how emptiness feels and see far to many men accept that bs, self-created state.
Blessings brother.

The daily grind gives you tunnel vision and makes you easily forget that there is alot more to life than work and routine

Sounds like you lack passion and purpose in life. Do you have any hobbies? Being in the wilderness hunting, on a boat fishing, setting gym pr's fullfills that for me. As long as I make enough money to do those things I'm mostly happy.
Also how much do you use alcohol as a crutch? Alcohol will 100% suck the soul out of you. I say that as a recovered alcoholic who hasn't drank in 7 years.

I'm 28 and feel the same way as OP does most days.
It's a lack of purpose, 100%. When you know that you're not wanted or needed for anything, it just makes your life a giant timekill. Guess you got a wife that might want to have you around and enjoy your company, so that's points in your favor.
Anyway, most normies have kids around this time once they kinda starting looking into the abyss. Automatic purpose for your life, right there.

I've started drinking a lot more frequently... 2x a week and it always turns into a nostalgia listening to music or watching clips from better days. I worry it's developing into a habit but I wouldn't call myself an alcoholic right now even if I might be..

I don't get the notion of having kids just for the sake of growing.. I think it would hinder me.
