It used to be popular a few years ago but hardly anyone seems to be doing them anymore.

Idk if "side hustle" means two or more concurrent jobs, but if so I've met some grocery store clerks that have actual careers and just do the grocery thing part time. Same for Uber drivers, gas station employees, bartenders.

I think there has been a rise in accessibility and knowledge sharing to get people trading in the stock markets, crypto markets, and sports betting, over the last couple of decades. But maybe that's less of a side hustle and more along the lines of gambling.

Working a regular job and then a side-hustle isn't feasible long-term for most people. Only sociopaths want to work that long. After a certain amount of time working long hours you realise that your time and family are more important - or if you're unfortunate you clock it on your death bed.
