Many Kansas City fans now have to get amputations because of frostbite at Superbowl

Garcia told FOX4 in January she’d already seen dozens of frostbite patients. Many of those were Chiefs fans who attended the playoff game against the Miami Dolphins where it was -4 degrees with a wind chill of -27 degrees at kickoff.

It was the fourth-coldest game in NFL history and coldest in Chiefs franchise history.

HCA Midwest Health shared images of the hand of one fan who took his gloves off for just five minutes in order to put up a tent in the parking lot outside Arrowhead Stadium.


“The patients who had their frostbite injuries along with the Chiefs game, they are just getting to the point now we are starting to discuss their amputations that might be necessary,” Garcia said.

The estimated 30% lucky enough to avoid amputation after undergoing treatment the past few weeks in hyperbaric oxygen tanks will have plenty of reminders of their frostbite injuries.

“It’s still a lifelong process. They’ll have sensitivity and pain for the rest of their lives and always will be more susceptible to frostbite in the future. So we are also educating them to make sure they stay warm for the years and months to come,” Garcia said.

I swear, diehard sports fans are legitimately mentally challenged. Imagine paying hundreds of dollars per ticket or more to literally freeze part of your body off at a cold as fuk NFL game when football is better on TV anyway

I went to the Chiefs vs Colts playoff game a few years ago in KC, first and only pro game I've been to cuz my friend had free tickets.

Just a bunch of drunk af middle-aged degenerates hanging out with other alcoholics. I tested the waters while looking for a parking spot, asking for free beers and many obliged and tossed me one. Many were literally stumbling into the stadium before kick off. Got to my seat, then saw shooters littered all over the ground. So yeah, not surprised people got frost bite, they're too drunk to know their limbs are frozen.

It's no wonder our country is in complete shambles. Hundreds of thousands of people will spend their entire weekend and free time for 5-6 months out of the year for a sports contest.

I'd like to know what drugs they take during games. Guarantee they're taking something to keep oxygen levels up in the blood and blood flowing. How else can one even function in that sort of weather.
