ITT: Describe your lowest quality training experience in recent memory

Been cutting for 3 weeks or so now, pretty hungry throughout the day, a bit more tired. Also really busy and stretched pretty thin these days. I train out of my own gym I built in my garage, so my preference is to hit it early before my day begins, often at 7-8am. Yesterday was my pull day but I was really busy in the AM so I had to squeeze it in the early afternoon, which was basically a disaster. I really dislike training in the afternoon now. I tend to be really exhausted and wiped out, so my pull day was pretty schit. Usually my lifting sessions are almost always great, but this one was particularly bad. I didn't give up, but still couldn't devote 100% to it.

How about other people here? They can't all be perfect, I guess. Describe your schittiest lifting session in recent memory.

For your time...

*Look at reflection in car window and flex every time crew*
*Use half the roll to wipe after a poo crew*
*Fart in the gym and blame rotten smell on faulty ventilation crew*
*Fart at home and blame it on the dog crew*
*Watch neutron-star density poop mock me as water flushes around it and it stays put crew*
*Drive 2 minutes in the summer and back of shirt gets completely wet crew*
*Coffee black as midnight on a moonless night crew*
*Fat shame my cat on a daily basis crew*

I had what I initially thought was a crappy workout a couple days ago. Was in the gym for like an hour (usually in there for 2); did like 3 heavy ass chest exercises.. incline press, incline db press, flat bench. maybe 12 sets total.

Went home thinking I slacked off. But when I took off my shirt and looked in the mirror I noticed I had a pretty sick chest pump . I’m still feeling a bit sore. So yeah, quality exercises with a good stretch of muscle fibers > lots of quantity chitty exercises and wasting time in the gym trying to load up on weak/low effort reps/sets

mirin' srs. I guess the good news in all of this is I'm usually glad I persevered and did it anyways but it could have been a lot better.

The other day, let's just certain individuals of a dark complexion, just sat on the equipment for like 20 minutes, while looking on their phone.....

Same with XSport in Lyons, mostly Hispanic. I swear, if you can't bench 135lbs, you should be segregated to Crunch, PF, or Blast.

there's been a few days the last few months where I get barely any sleep or the quality wasn't great, but forced myself to go to the gym anyways. No gains, no doms the next day, nothing. Probably did more harm than good.

Not true, I've had workouts like that, where I barely got any sleep, and somehow would have a great workout.

It's the individuals in the gym that will ruin a workout for me. It's so sad what has happened to gym culture.

Dumbells all over the place, people just sitting there, nobody is really working hard, just going through the motions with this blank look on their face.

Seeing scrawny Zoomers, bench like 65lbs, while wearing pajamas and Crocs.....

Last few workouts have been dog chit. Failing lifts and getting weaker.

Going to try 1 on 2 off, and do 1 less set of squats per workout. Cut dead’s to once every 3 workouts, replace them with rows until I get sorted out again.

Right this very moment. I’m sitting on the gym floor looking at my loaded barbell, miscing, and thinking about just leaving

What kind of loser is in the gym midday on a weekend (rhetorical)?

The worst training day I can recall was years ago when I was in college. I had just transferred from one junior college to another, and my financial aid card came in, and the image was of the old college, so I thought there was a major screw up that would be difficult to sort out.

I walked to the gym I went to at that time a mile from where I lived, and I was livid. Couldn’t even get through one set without wanting to destroy something.

It got sorted out, I was able to use the card at my new college, but I didn’t know that during the workout. Worst workout of my life.

Like many, I struggle with motivation for working out. When I did highscool wrestling, it kept me motivated so I could be better at my sport.

I always had the energy, and even if I didn't really feel like working out, I could do it anyway, and lifting the weights didn't feel bad, per se. I could lift my 12-rep max and go to failure and it wasn't arduous. And the gains came.

Now that I am in my 30's, it is no longer like that. A 12 rep set to failure feels so much heavier. My arms don't want to lift it, and I can't gather the willingness to make them do it, whereas it wasn't an issue before. Even if I complete my workouts, get a calerie surplus, and get the right macros, and get enough rest, I'm liable to see no progress, or even reverse-progress for quite a few workouts in a row.

This was the experience I had the last time I took up lifting.

I don't know if it's T related, but that is my current theory.

Cottamn that sucks! I'm always worried about that with my pup. There's a lot of wildlife and stray cats here. My dog is a large powerful rottweiler so if she really wants to pull, she can fwarking pull. Luckily I've trained her quite well and I wrap the leash around my wrist, but still on my mind sometimes.
