Chicago Bears QB Debate
THE hot topic of the offseason. Caleb Williams or Justin Fields.
There are obvious advantages to each. Keeping Fields will get them a haul for the 1 pick where they can load up and Caleb Williams has all the tools and resets the QB contract.
I truly have no idea what they'll do. I figure they were drafting CW at first, but they haven't gotten rid of JF yet. Strange offseason for them.

People keep talking about Williams being a generational talent, but there's also another generational talent in this draft in Harrison, Jr. Since chicago wasn't able to get any offers for Fields I think they should roll with him and either take Harrison or trade the #1 pick. The most ideal situation would be trading the #1 pick and still being able to get Harrison but that would depend on which team would be interested in trading for the #1 pick.

Fields cant throw so they're probably drafting caleb Williams. He hasnt been traded cuz bears are the bears and overplayed their hands so now they are probably getting a 5th rounder for him later

They are already making moves to shore up receivers before the draft, so I think they are going to keep Fields and draft Williams. If Fields doesn't perform in the first few games with a really good receiver corps then they will make the switch early.

1) A likely 6th round pick (that's all NE got for Mac Jones)
or
2) A quality backup for Caleb Williams for one season.
As a Vikings fan who had musical chairs of horrible backup QB's last year after our starter went down–I definitely would have rather had Fields vs an extra late round pick.

I think i would rather bears let another team trade up for Williams so Bears can maybe get an extra pick and still get Marvin Harrison Jr.
Bears have never ever been able to develop a QB to be elite level. I would be shocked if Williams will be any different for the bears. But give an average QB exceptional receivers/O-line, and try to have a top 5 defense….that can get you to a championship game.

Bears can trade down to 3 and swap with NE if NE loves Caleb. Take Marvin at 3 before Ari snatches him at 4.

i think caleb might bust so (i also think fields isn't good)
imo they been picking top of the draft with fields on their team anyway so if he's trash again with all the new talent around then go with a new QB in 2025. Take Marvin Harrison Jr
but bears gonna bears and will end up with another bust caleb

NFL bout to be on suicide watch.
Caleb's floor is basically where Fields is in year 4. Caleb/Keenan Allen/DJ Moore/DeAndre Swift/Cole Kmet/Gerald Everrett. Compounded with a great defense. Bears were honestly a few one possession games from being a playoff team last year. They humiliated Detroit 7/8 quarters and they made the NFC Championship game lmao.

It makes more sense to me to trade the pick, especially now that Fields is seemingly worth nothing.
If they thought Fields wasn't the answer but a QB in this draft is, then they shoulda fired their chitty defensive HC…
If they draft a QB #1 overall, they probably fail to reach expectations, HC is fired, QB has to learn a new scheme etc…

Especially, for a franchise that has never had a franchise quarterback. No Bears quarterback has ever even thrown for 30 touchdowns in a season.
I don’t think it’s a debate. They’re going to draft Williams and if they don’t you can probably start counting the days until the GM gets fired.

Fields traded to Pitt, I guess Chicago's qb debate is officially over.

Jesus and he got traded for a 6th round pick just like Mac Jones. Some of these guys have to be pretty bitter because they were supposed to be the next big superstars.

Really comes down to what the team values more:
1) A likely 6th round pick (that's all NE got for Mac Jones)
or
2) A quality backup for Caleb Williams for one season.

Right, if they do end up trading him before May–it will be up to the new team to decide whether to exercise it or not. Exercising it would absolutely kill what little trade value he has fwiw.

I've been debating this online with Bears fans and in person with my friends. I feel very confident that the Bears made a catastrophic mistake.
First of all, Caleb Williams is not generational an is a flawed prospect. He has success is situations that are not realistic in the NFL. In some of his highlights he's throwing the ball 7-9 seconds after the snap and his receivers are getting ridiculous seperation. This is the same system that Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield wn Heismans and went #1 overall from. He's shown me things under pressure that I do not like.
Now when it comes to the Bears…
Where they play matters. Maybe more than any other team. YOU CANNOT BUILD A TEAM AROUND QB and WRs IN CHICAGO. The weather is too bad for passing.
Bears offensive and defensive point ranks when they have 10+ win seasons in the salary cap era.
2018- 9th in points scored, 1st in points against
2012- 16th in points scored, 3rd in points against
2010- 21st in points scored, 4th in points against
2006- 2nd in points scored, 3rd in points against
2005- 26th in points, 1st in points against
2001- 11th in points scored, 1st in points against.
Average- 14th in points scored, 2nd in points against. The blue print to win in Chicago is build a defense and offensive line. They would have won the Super Bowl with Rex Grossman if they just gave Thomas Jones 30 carries.
They should have unloaded the pick for a fortune and built a nasty defense. There was a rumor the Broncos offered two 1s, two 2s and Surtain. That would have been a great trade for the Bears and I bet there were better offers.
Caleb Williams will struggle. Bears missed a once in a lifetime opportunity.

So the last time the Bears were in the super bowl… 2nd in offense and 3rd in defense. You need to be competent in both. There's no shortage of metrics to prove this. Chiefs have had great defenses. Brady benefited from some great defenses.
What you say about Caleb can be said about a lot of guys. Burrow threw to Jamarr and Jefferson in college. Stroud threw to guys mostly wide open all the time. Nobody thought Mahomes would be what he is. Nobody knows nothing. I think the tools are there for Caleb to be THE guy.
Your weather comment… what?
Never go full retard, son.
