I literally live in China where they have banned IG, American Tik Tok, ********, Youtube, BBC, Yahoo, you name it....

This is a war of money, information, control and propaganda. America needs to understand they can't play with their hands tied behind their back anymore. Other countries don't play by their rules and 100% they control the algorithims. So, do I want the youth of America propogandized by a foreign entity at odds with the US or my own nation with it's flaws and issues.... I don't see how this is even something to debate.

the information people are absorbing has to come from somewhere. These individual voters are not personally witnessing every world event with their own eyes. So whoever is feeding them the information is in control of what they base their decisions upon.

democracy was always based on the control of information by the elite class, meaning that democracy never represented the will of the people but the will of those who controlled the information.

Funny thing is that each side still consumes the others' media. Tons of Chinese watch and read American news and are on reddit, etc. And Americans can find out easily what is happening in China. They were the ones who brainwashed kids into believing all of the propaganda involving CRT, DEI, anti-Western/anti-colonialism, so on and so forth, and now they're finding out that their programming also applied to a group who wants to exterminate the Jews and Israel.

The timing is way too convenient to be chalked up to mere coincidence, especially after they were decrying Trump as a racist for wanting to ban tiktok way before it became the social media force that it is today.

Did you attend public education in America? Do you watch American televsion? You are already fed that diet even if you didn't know it. I'm a history teacher and one of the core unspoken understandings of what we do (or used to do) is to indoctrinate. Now, tiktok and ******** tells us to tell the "truths" about America IE tell the students the bad things where in we used to only tell them the good stuff (lies by omission). However, now the focus is to make our students only see the bad rather than any good (another lie of omission).

When people stop loving their state, when the state becomes morally corrupt, and when foreign powers and cultures start destroy the fabric of what the society is... we have problems.

The youth need to be lied to a bit, they need "santa claus"... you can't tell a child about the real truths of life because they have no ability to contextualize this or actually evaluate and analyze the complications of geopolitics.

The people deserve to know the truth, for better or for worse. Your job as a teacher is to show them the truth, no more and no less. If you're one of those people who whitewashes history or who also neglects and downplays the good things, you're trash. Your job is to teach HOW to think and arm kids with the truth. They will decide what to think. America has a lot to be proud of and a lot to be ashamed of, and the kids deserve to know all of it.

Read Blood Money by Peter Schwartz, he outlines how the CCP are using TikTok as a trojan horse to push tranny/groomer, etc.

That said, so is every social media platform.

I don't know a whole lot about Tik Tok other than many people keep saying it is controlled by the Chinese government and with that control is influencing Americans in a negative way. I like many Chinese people but I don't like the Chinese government. If it is true that the Chinese government is influencing Americans in a negative way I'm in favor of having Tik Tok sold and not used as is in America.

Tik Tok isn't really being used by the CPC except to collect data on Americans (As many American companies do to the Chinese for the US government). Most TikTok content is generated by Americans for Americans. The government is upset because people are able to meme awareness of war crimes, such as those happening in Gaza, and that is changing political opinion. They also want to signal hatred and xenophobia for China.

You tell a 5 year old Thomas Jefferson had slaves... Washington had slaves... JFK was banging Marilyn Monroe... they are now bad in the child's mind because they can't contextualize history. We understand historical relativism, a child can't.
I was taught to critically think in High school, awhile back to be clear, and later in college (also maybe not the norm in 2024). I do not watch television, although I might check out Shogun.

I raise my children, I teach them to critically think as well. It's not your job to indoctrinate our children, as it's already been said, you just need to teach history.

I don't know about your past positions, but the left was screaming at Trump for being racist for ideas the left now parrots, so honestly, I could give two chits about what they think about it now. I didn't think Trump was racist for his earlier tiktok stance but I disagreed with him, as I also now do with the Zionists who are afraid of losing this young generation to their propaganda. Wish I could rep the poster above again, good work itt.

So overall I'm confused on the issue. to much contradicting information being said. I'd hate for Tik Tok to be sold off if it is not influencing Americans in a negative way. I'm not much of a fan of ********. I would not want to help them out. If Tik Tok is bought and controlled by a former Trump official I can imagine that being a positive overall for America. It is a negative overall though if Tik Tok is stolen away from its owners who are just simply businessmen and women looking to make a living. That would hurt investment into America. It would cause fear in investors.
