Keeping a good sense of humour as you age is very important

There is no shortage of advice out there on how to improve your life, whether it's financial, social, or how to build your physique. I'd like to add that a real superpower in life is to develop and cultivate a strong sense of humor. Being able to laugh at ourselves and at the absurdity of life and reality becomes more important every year, as our abilities and future becomes more limited, in some ways.

Personally, I've always had a weakness for dark humor, especially when it's delivered unexpectedly. I once watched a circus clown standing inside a circle of children. The clown took out a pigeon and asked the children if he should "bite the head off the pigeon," and the children all screamed "NOOOOOO! The clown immediately began biting the "head," chewed it with a crunching sound, and then spat out a blood-soaked pigeon "head" beneath his feet! The trick obviously ended with the reveal that the pigeon was fine, and the children LOVED IT, but the looks on the children's mothers' faces still make me laugh, even 30+ years later!
