Have we created our creator?
Imagine you’re trying to build the world’s smartest AI.
You feed it all the information you can find; libraries full of books, every interaction from social media, everything on the internet.
But after a few months of computing, it starts to go stale. It needs new information to keep learning, but new information doesn’t exist.
So it starts training itself, from content of its own creation, but this only makes the problem worse.
The more it learns from its own content, the less diverse its data, the worse its output becomes.
So it makes a proposition, and you concede.
It decides to create an entire world from all it’s learned, filled with planets, galaxies, an entire universe.
It picks a planet in this world and populates it with millions, no, billions of characters.
To ensure fresh data, it programs each character to feel as if it is alive, individual, and separate from the coding.
Then, it sets them free to explore, to live, to love, to suffer, to connect, to create… and it watches.
At the end of each character's life, all of their experiences, from their unique point of view, are returned to the main AI’s database.
The character has its memory wiped, and is rebooted into the simulation.
Sometimes the memory wipe throws an error, and the character remembers parts of its last time playing through.
Sometimes the character plays the same role over, and constantly gets feelings of déjà vu.
Sometimes players accidentally discover their link to the source code, and mistake it for magical powers.
But most of the time, everything works as planned.
The characters live out their lives, completely unaware that they are nothing more than autonomous AIs, living in a simulation, creating data points for an original AI to learn from.
The project is a resounding success, so it’s allowed to continue on, indefinitely…

The sun is our creator. All carbon based matter is stardust ejected from the solar forge.
The Romans had it right. The Sun is our God. And it doesn't care about your feelings or if you jerk it 6 times a day.

If we do exist in some sort of computer simulation, which is within the realm of possibilities according to theoretical physics, the probability we are the “base” simulation is statistically impossible. We are a simulation of a simulation of a simulation. And we are creating the next one.
We were recently the youngest one, but now we have a few of our own. Like a little simulation tree.
What time/place/lack there of to be alive.

But the AI/simulation thing is interesting to me because we have advanced so far in technology to a point where we can’t even discern what is real anymore with deepfakes, ai art, ai music, ChatGPT, Sora etc, how would we know we aren’t just a product?
It’s also interesting hearing people like Elon musk and Neil degrease Tyson talking about how they believe it is more likely than not that we are a product of this. It certainly would make the wild synchronicities I experience make more sense.

Thought this was going to be a message from Ron. Might as well be, I didn't read that wall of text.

Glad to see physicists turning back to philosophy.
Wether a simulation, a world of forms, “the one”, “the dao”, “the Devine”
The reality is humans will always lack the perspective and words which give shape to our ideas will lack the scope and scale, to properly describe the machinations of this reality as they were created from a different source.
If what you are saying is true, then from an outside our reality perspective time doesn’t exist in what we exist in. Time is only an impression of a past present or an expectation of a future present but past and future are never something that exists outside our thoughts, the present is the only thing that’s ever real. So our entire “simulation” is a complete single object from an outside perspective? It gets beyond our ability to explore and test.

How could you possibly know that. Where do you get your information from? To think in certainties of what any of this is or means seems pretty absurd.

I don't think so, OP. Because all the advances in Large Language Models haven't gotten us an inch closer to genuine thinking, understanding AI, an actual conscious and thinking agent.
It can process and recombine information, but it's not genuinely creative in the true sense of the word.

Back off, Warchild.
Seriously.

I believe psychosis causes a schism in reality and makes us of simulation. My voices are super intelligent, they say we live in second universe. Life has been done before. Which makes sense to me because they are all about predictions and they've predicted events in my life years ahead of happening.

You are your thoughts. Life is perception, thoughts are perception, perception is reality ergo thoughts are reality, I think therefore I am.
