How to remove a splinter that can't be reached with tweezers?

Brushed up against some nasty palm tree that had shark like teeth on it. Stabbed into my rear delt and broke off inside. My girlfriend dug around with tweezers trying to get it out but it just kept going deeper. Have like an inch long serrated palm tree knife stuck into the meat of my shoulder and can't get it out. It just kept going in deeper. Kinda sucks. My health insurance doesn't kick in for another week with my new job so hope it doesn't get infected... Do I just ignore it and see if it works itself out?

Just read your full post.
Try my suggestion but if it becomes obvious after a short while that it isn't cutting it, then see a doctor.

Yes


Needle: For splinters that are a little deeper, a small needle can be used to essentially pry one part of the splinter up and out past the surface of the skin. After making sure to sterilize the needle before using it,gently poke a hole in the skin directly over the end of the splinter that is closest to the surface. Then use the needle to pry the splinter up and out; once enough of the splinter is outside of the skin, you should be able to use tweezers (or even possibly your fingernails) to remove the rest of the splinter.

The barb? you're describing is bigger than anything I've experienced but a sterilized sewing needle should be strong enough to pick at/get to a foreign object and get some movement out of it.
Like I said, if after a short while though it doesn't seem to be doing the trick, then off to the doctor.

Gotta use something to start digging it out. I had a small splinter earlier this month, like 1/8th inch. I dug it out with a thumb tac. Sucked because it was on the outside of my right pinkie, had to use my left hand to dig it out.

This is the way. A needle works best, but I've dug a lot of splinters out with a pocket knife. Just comes down to how bad you want it out.
