Why are homes in the Bay Area so much more expensive than homes in LA?
I grew up in a Bay Area ghetto and most 2bd starter homes there are over $1MM and 4bd homes there in slightly better areas eclipse $3MM regularly. However in pretty nice areas of LA like Calabasas, there are so many gorgeous 5000 sqft 6bd homes selling for less than $3MM. Why? Isn’t LA a much better place to live too despite the slightly lower salaries? You’ll find 0 girls who look like Katy Marioni in the Bay, but you can spot dozens of her lookalikes every day in LA.

I'm not sure if you're allowed to take a dump on the sidewalk in LA yet, but that's definitely a perk of living in San Fran that might be boosting real estate there.

L.A. is enormous. tons of great neighborhoods.
SF itself is tiny. it's like Manhattan.
