Coalman was right
Horizon Forbidden West is easily the best looking, if not top three best looking games on any platform. Tbh I don't even know if PC has any game that rivals this graphically.
Ratchet and Clank still the goat, but Horizon Forbidden West is prolly a second.

Dassit mane. I've seen newer games that would have better lighting thanks to RT on higher end setups. Forbidden West's open world doesn't have the best lighting anymore but inside locations still have fantastic lighting.
What really gets me is the high detail in all the characters, assets and textures. The world is also colorful and vibrant with so many unique biomes and different tribes with their own cultures and ways they make their towns. Art direction is wild.
I will never forget when I randomly rode into Plainsong, I was NOT expecting it at all and my jaw dropped. Have you been there yet OP?

I'd love to see them go full Monster Hunter, i.e. action RPG with monsters (that bleed) and completely different weapon classes because just going off of screenshots/video, HZD2 mogs thehell out of whatever crapcom is trying to pass off as next gen between DD2 and Monster Hunter Wilds:
Spoiler!
Just my bias going off of the PC experience versus the original PS3/Xbone, but I honestly think that barely looks better than MH: World/IB.
Guerilla and Nixxes were top tier buys from Sony when it comes down to the quality they produce. Now we just need a Killzone refresh.

I will stand firm, I refuse to kneel - The fury in me is divine
My dark grave awaits, my fate is revealed - But I'm not afraid to die

It's no wonder Kojima uses it for his Death Stranding games too. I think they're well aware of a monster hunter concept though because the rumor is that's what their Horizon multi-player game will be about. I'm not the biggest fan of online games anymore but the idea of teaming up with your homies to go on hunts seems pretty legit. I'd cream my pants to play this type of game if it hold up in looks and performance with Forbidden West.I'd love to see them go full Monster Hunter, i.e. action RPG with monsters (that bleed) and completely different weapon classes because just going off of screenshots/video, HZD2 mogs thehell out of whatever crapcom is trying to pass off as next gen between DD2 and Monster Hunter Wilds:

The gameplay is both a step up and step down from ZD. This game is too unnecessarily complicated and clunky for the sake of it. Trying to upgrade weapons, clothes is just designed to waste your time requiring more and more rarer resources. Zero Dawn was far less egregious, and the combat was way more fun, this games combat was frustrating.

Also for some reason even to this day I suck at aiming in Zero Dawn. For whatever reason it feels like the hitboxes in ZD are more inconsistent and even after hundreds of hours I miss way too often. This isn't the case in FW where combat feels way more consistent and fluid and I land most shots.
The combat downgrade in FW to me is the customization and weapon types. I can't just choose the bow with the best properties I like and load the arrows I want since those choices are locked. To use fire arrows I need one unique bow and to use freeze or plasma I need 2 additional ones to the point that I have several bows of the same type equipped just wasting space on the wheel. Also I think the shredder gauntlet is a cool new weapon concept and I intend to do a run someday just using that.
I was wondering what prompted you to make this thread though. Did you just revisit the game on PS5? To me it seemed like you got the PC version and was checking it out.

I know the game looks like a menace, but I forgot just how riddicuously good it looked. Did a bro-comparison by loading up Spiderman 2 and this game, and yeah, Horizon definitely 2 looks better overall with its presentation .... The only thing I dont like is the "hero" lighting. It looks super odd when Aloy is lit like that but some other characters dont get it, understandable because it's probably taxing, but I'd have liked a bit more uniformity.
