Auto Insurance Bruhs - Get in Here

Ok fellas,

Some lady backed into my truck a couple weeks ago. She's admitted fault to her insurance company, and they are covering the repairs. The repairs will take about a week so I need a rental car. My truck is a 2017 Ram 2500 and Allstate (lady's insurance company) is telling me they will only reimburse up to $41.80 a day for a rental car, which barely covers an economy car. Anyone have any luck getting the insurance company to pay more for a rental car? I'm a big dude and there is no way I'm driving around in a Chevy Bolt for a week.

I feel like they should reimburse for whatever is equivalent to what I was driving, no?

Wife got hit back in October and the other insurance company (State Farm) wouldn't accept liability until they got the police report because their driver said she couldn't remember what happened (you'd think the ticket she got for running the red light would jog her memory). Rented a car on my own dime for 3 weeks until they got the report and then they rented it themselves with their negotiated rate. Sent them the receipt for the 3 weeks and they paid in full.

had a woman run a red light & total my BMW, she was Mayhem, I mean, she had Allstate

they barely covered anything so what I did was I used Uber & Lyft & they reimbursed me for those & I barely paid anything out of pocket

but yes, I feel there needs to be more regulation on this type of thing.. the insurance companies are not covering their end on either side

not for you, not for her

typically the sooner you settle the sooner they cut off the daily allowance

if they're fixing the car, they'll stop reimbursing you the day the shop says its done

The last time I was in an accident the insurance company took care of the rental so the idea of paying for it and then being reimbursed is odd.

Yeah, I don't want to end up any better than I was, but at the same time I don't want to have to be out anything since it wasn't my fault.

They didn't want to accept liability until they saw the police report that said it was their driver's fault. We just had liability on my wife's car (old car) so our insurance company wasn't even in the picture.

Ask your insurance company what their thoughts are about it and how ridiculous it is. They should be working on your behalf and perhaps pick up the difference.

And herein lies the problem; you SHOULD end up better than before

Here's the lowdown son boyo; your vehicle will never be the same once it's been hit, it could be a bent bumper rail, it could be a frame rail but it will never be perfectly straight again

The bodyshop will cut every corner possible & do the work of a 12 year old, I can promise you that; half the time they just spray new paint over crinkled parts

The other driver's refusal to pay attention to what they're doing, almost always women who treat cars like a purse because their husband pays for it, has taken from YOU

If their insurance company does not cover every single penny of your expense, sue them; if YOUR insurance company refuses to make up for anything not covered, sue them too

I'm not joking

The insurance company does not give a damn about you, their priority is to mitigate cost, not help you as a paying customer
