How often do you puke after a workout?

Seems like anytime I do any kind of heavy leg compound to failure I puke. Usually like 30 min post workout too for some reason. Did a 9 rep set of deadlifts, 585x9 to failure last week. Stopped in at a restaurant to get a couple chicken burritos and had to leave mid order to puke my guts out in the bathroom lol. Then came back and paid for it. Brutal. Sucks cause my abs and lats always cramp as I'm puking and it's miserable. Happens with squats ,belt squats and leg press too

Can this be avoided? Like if I start doing some cardio or something? Or is this just part of the deal of getting jacked and stacked

My leg days have always been taxing but it's only happened once. I got really light headed and dizzy...I think it was just an off day.

I feel like that sometimes after squatting. I never actually threw up.

I just started lifting again recently after taking years off though.

What is in your system before you lift? Are you eating or are you just pounding Pre and hitting the gym? I've dry heaved a lot after a brutal leg day, but I tend to keep it all in! (can't waste calories!) My favorite place to dry heave is in the background of influencers videos!)

Get some food in your tummy before you lift and make sure you're hydrated!

Back in my 30’s I’d yak on average 4 times a month. I was going ham back then, and only had an hour to get my workout in. Also did a lot of drop sets.

It has to do with the fact that your body needs a good amount of energy to digest food, when you work out hard, the fight or flight response kicks in, and empties your gut so it can use that energy for something else.

I’m in my 50s now, and when I start to get that feeling, I take a break, longer rest between sets.

I dont think ive ever puked, but definitely had that puke feeling come on post or late workout plenty of times.

As other said it could be a hydration issue, or youre just training too hard. If you're completely out of shape and come back to training then okay I can see puking but that would be reasonable for anaerobic exercise. Weightlifting, I don't see it as reasonable. If you're a seasoned powerlifter and you puke or something once in a while at a meet or doing max weight/rep work once in a while thats understandable, however fuking gross.

Do you carb load and properly hydrate with electrolytes before doing these hard workouts? And well before the workout so your body isnt digesting while youre working out?
