Israel, early Friday morning local time, launched missiles in a retaliatory strike against Iran, a senior U.S. official told ABC News.

The missile launches follow Iran's attack last Saturday, where the country sent a volley of more than 300 uncrewed drones and missiles toward targets throughout the country, Israeli military officials previously said. All but a few were intercepted by Israel and its allies, including the United States, officials said.

Iran's attack came more than six months after Hamas terrorists invaded Israel on Oct. 7, after which the Israeli military began its bombardment of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the country's war cabinet have met several times since the Iran strikes, and as ABC News previously reported, at least two strikes were previously aborted.

(Bloomberg) -- An explosion was heard early Friday in Iran’s central city of Isfahan, the semi-official Fars news agency reported, citing local sources.

The cause of the blast is unknown, according to the report. An Iranian army air base and Isfahan’s airport are reportedly close to the explosion site, Fars said. Global oil and gold prices rose.

Israel is such a joke. Iran's response should have squared things up and been left at that. Eye for an eye.

The Iran attack failed miserably anyway. It already was embarrassing for Iran and a clear demonstration to the world of Israel's military superiority and defense systems.

But that wasn't good enough for cry baby hypocrite Israel. The same county that never lets anyone forget about the Holocaust while committing the closest thing the world has ever seen to democratic-nation-led genocide in Gaza, needs to keep escalating things. It's clear Netanyahu just wants war so he can stay in power.

Hopefully the USA doesn't defend them or fund them any longer, and if the Arabs gang up on Israel and wipe them out, so be it. Why should the West even care? Middle-eastern problems should be just that- middle-eastern problems. The West should stop wasting its time and money. Israel started attacking everyone against the USA's wishes. Let them reap what they sow if they want to escalate against U.S. instruction.
