If your dad was really in the NFL, then yeah, you should regret it.

My dad is a 5'6'' bald manlet, While I turned out to be 6'1'' and reasonably athletic, I would have had no potential in football after HS. It would have simply been unnecessary brain trauma.

I ran XC in the fall, wrestled in the winter, and played baseball in the spring. I'm still friends with a few teammates over 12 years later. I have no regrets.
Reps to all BJJ/grappling/MMA bros.

Played one year of football, 8th grade going into high school. Was the best sport I've ever played...funner than basketball, funner than baseball, funner than hockey. Very strategic, every person on the field has a relatively unique job.

Was on the defensive line. Wasterriblefor the first few games, but by the end I was getting fumble recoveries, tackles, even a sack or two. Got a "Most Improved" award by the end.

When it came time to sign up for football in high school, the time commitment was just a bridge too far. I wish I had played from 5th grade through 8th. It really instilled a discipline in me and improved my work ethic, athleticism, etc. I did still lift with all the football players and remember them being pissed I had way better 1 rep maxes than them and didn't even play.

I was a Defensive Tackle and kicker through high school also a hockey goalie and swam . My son played Defensive Tackle/Nose Guard, long snapper, and could do reps on OLine and as an H back through college. He also was a Track and Field thrower and played basketball and baseball. My daughter played football in middle school (D Line and Center). She concentrated on volleyball in high school

I was actually really good in football. In pee wee I played quarterback and was unstoppable. Probably scored more on defense than offense. Jr high was rough. Our high school was 2 in the state and I felt like the coaches didn’t like me. I had to be the dummy running back every day. My dad was like well if you ever make it to the college level you will be hell because I was on a second string offense going against a top state defense daily. Broke my arm the year I was shooting start and decided to work and try and walk on in college but it didn’t work out
