I've been libertarian leaning, voted for Ron Paul twice, etc. The gap between the top 1-2% and the rest is pretty insane. Even the Founding Fathers weren't as "free market" as many believed them to be. Hell, Benjamin Franklin himself wrote an essay advocating paper money.

I say you soak Wall Street with heavy fees especially in the derivatives and other "instruments of high finance". Private equity firms should pretty much be banned from their ability to soak up real estate.
And the most controversial, do NOT end the FED. Nationalize it/Revoke their charter.
Why should the United States intentionally handicap itself while the rest of the world continues to operate at the status quo? A real Bank of the United States! Like our currency use to say pre-1963: "United States Note".(I know the FED was still in play then but it’s the idea here).. The Bank of the United States would operate to facilitate the bond market and other international transactions necessary to a nation state but also serve to directly benefit every member of society.
Laser focus investment into basically universal health Care but do not stifle price discovery/free market forces for innovation and to bring down medical costs. This is a no brainer.
Internet isn’t super expensive but it should pretty much be a human right now since you pretty much need access to it to function in our modern society. No one wants to go back to a brick and mortal economy. Let’s not lie to ourselves and think e-commerce hasn’t a been a universal improvement in the quality of life for every human.
Some form of universal income may be need for housing and to bring down food costs. This is a tricky one… but something must be done about the hyper inflating cost of food and shelter.
Ron Paul was right about one thing though, End the Wars. Not one penny in foreign aid other than Japan maybe since nuked them and all but bring all the troops home for sure focusing on United States national security only and no “policing of the world”. A handful of strategic bases and naval operations that only protect direct threats to the homeland.
Neither political party is the ideal combination that is needed here…

Current Ron Paul liberty report daily listener here.
My understanding is the deep state operates because of the way the government and financial system are set up. There is no way the government would be as big as it is without having access to borrow from the federal reserve without tax payer permission, while forcing citizens to pay taxes in the form of federal reserve notes.
I know what you are saying, however the "benefits" of a paper banking system our heavily outclassed by the downsides, where tyrannical governments steal from you through inflation.
You gain nothing through empire except corruption and war. This is the foundation of empires. This is what Ron Paul and followers speak out against every day, we were not designed to be an empire. We were designed to be a lot of states, giving the people options to live where they best fit in, and united by a belief in the rule of law and god given rights.
Do you really care if China has a better economy? A bigger army? Does it really matter?
If you had 51 states full of militias that loved their homeland, its likely no one is coming to take it from you. The government can't even stop the Taliban, you think they can stop people that not only love God, but their country too?
My 2 cents. I'd rather face the downfalls of liberty than the upsides of a centrally planned economy under the powers of corruption.

I should also add, there is nothing inherently wrong with paper banking. There is with central banks that create "money" out of thin air, that can not be audited or questions without being accused of being anti semetic
