Was listening to the JRE podcast with Josh Dubin (Criminal Justice Reform Advocate) and Sheldon Johnson. Sheldon Johnson was a high level entity within "The Bloods" gang in his youth, also has a wife and kids btw. Over theft of a bag of pepsi, he and some gang members beat up an individual, inflicting two stitches. This individual pressed charges, and ultimately the judge assigned him to 50 years in prison. Around the 8th year he turned his life around and stopped being involved in any conflicts, including going on to earning a Masters degree. 25 years into the sentence, he gets released early with help from Josh Dubin.

By the time the JRE podcast occurred, he was out of jail with help from Josh Dubin for 8 months, and was acting a bit of a saint playing a client advocate part of an organization whose goal is to turn kids/teens involved with criminal lifestyles' lives around.

I'm still about half way through the podcast... but I decided to look up Sheldon Johnson. A single month after the JRE podcast took place, he was convicted for murder. 4 gunshots to the head of a 42 years old man, heard by a neighbor of Sheldon's apartment. And camera footage shows him going in and out of his apartment wearing different clothes each time, bringing home cleaning supplies. Police arrive for a wellness check and find the 42 years old man's body parts in a freezer.

Now Josh Dubin has to live with the fact that he let out a criminal that enacted man slaughter within less than a year of being free.
