True story:

A good friend of mine from high school married his high school sweetheart (giga-hottie with chad) and gets rather quickly into a very lucrative gig after college. The more successful he became - at first - the better everything seemed to be. After two kids, and as the years went by, he amassed a significant amount of wealth - but each year his wife started to complain more and more. The sort of 'we don't need money' or 'you earn too much' or 'you're spoiling the kids' kind of thing.
