Is the Republican's hard-line "Israel First" stance a mistake?

I think one of the biggest reasons Trump has been successful is because he runs on a very hard "America First" stance. That's what they love about it. Lately the Republicans have made it abundantly clear that they view Israel as important as the US, with some seemingly valuing it more than the US. They want to impeach Biden for not having complete and absolute loyalty to Israel. Trump doubled down on this by ripping Biden for threatening to withhold weapons.

Is this a mistake by the Republicans and Trump? This goes against his America First platform. Maybe it isn't enough to drive many voters away, but it can't help.
