No power.
Houston and a few surrounding areas got hit hard by a freak storm. 1 million without power in Houston. Rural areas lost power too.
Really it was a freak storm. By 5pm it was so dark I thought it was 8pm.

It was raining really hard but luckily there was a little old lady with an umbrella. I quickly stole her umbrella to keep myself nice and dry.

Yeah stuff like that makes you realize how reliant we are on electricity and stuff. Have an off-grid survival book on order so I can prep better, srs.

Whole home generators are pretty common up there right?
We picked up a small dual fuel generator as a just incase given the way the winters have been recently.
Stay safe brah!

Looks some spots just got it worse than others. Based on the damage there had to be a Tornado or two on the ground.

Driving into work this morning and I felt like I was driving in the country. Darkness left and right all around Houston freeway for miles. Unfortunately work had power and here I am.
Buy flashlights now, no one should rely on their stupid phone light lol.
I recommend Sofirn lights, cheap and good quality.

Louisiana crew, I hit the road at about 2:20 this morning and there were quite a few traffic lights out and of course there were idiots blasting straight through without stopping. Tree limbs all over the roads, trash cans, yard items everywhere.

Having no power with no timeline on it being back up is the absolute worst. It always reminds me of how close we are to being back in the dark ages if some freak magnetic storm came and wiped all electronics out.

Being a tradie I just did my own gas piping (helps to have a threader and vice) and my own electrical. Only thing I didn’t do was the pad for the unit to sit on

I actually brought it back from my parents cause I had thought about trying to turn it into the base for a conan's wheel but then never put much thought into it
