Yes. That was my salary at 33 too. I bumped up to 150k for the past 3 years now. You'll get there one day.

The hardest part of that is hot chicks you might date that have it on easy mode bc they get easy sales jobs that they totally suck at but are just eye candy, who will view you as somebody with no ambition. Don't worry about it. A guys career takes off as they hit their late 30s and 40s, while a woman's (in general) is the highest they'll ever achieve in their late 20s/early 30s.

I make $55k.

It's OK. Stay away from unnecessary debt like credit cards and car loan. Keep your cellphone bill to $50 or less. Don't eat out. You won't save much

If you budget tight, you might have about $300 leftover.

You're not building any real emergency fund on $55k unless you have a roommate or some real life slums. $55k is about $2800/month after tax, 401k, and health insurance.


-$1300 rent
-$175 Utilities
-$300 groceries
-$200 gas
-$160 car insurance
-$40 cellphone

=$625 leftover.

Those are the bare minimum bills. That's no tv, internet. That's no nightlife. That's no dates. Sure you have something leftover, but assuming you're driving a beater, a water pump going out can eat $800 of your savings, that's a huge chunk. You're barely making it


If you don't have $1500/month leftover you"re not making it IMO. $75k - $85k is the minimum threshold to be comfortable

The misc is an interesting place to ask this.

Bro so long as you are working and can meet your basic needs, you are doing better than most people on the planet.

If you can afford some luxuries, plan for your future retiremnet and support people that are important to you, you are winning.

If you are making the aforementioned money and actually look forward to going to/doing your work, you are living the dream.

What person A can do with 50k gross and person B can do with 100k gross can be one and the same. One person just has their chit together better than the other.
