Do religious people actually believe in their religion?

I mean, come on. I get being brought up in a faith and blindly believing it's true. But think deep down.. do you ACTUALLY believe? If someone could put a bullet in your head and guarantee heaven if you were correct... would you do it? I'm guessing no.

There's no evidence for any deity. Religions are SO clearly made up by men hundreds/thousands of years ago because they had no understanding of science or the cosmos.

Most of you say you're sure God is real. Well I'm sure your God is not real. One of us is lying.

These days we keep hearing "God must be real, because my life is easier believing that he is real". As if your thoughts will change the rest of the universe.

This type of chit infuriates me lol. I was just talking to a catholic girl last night. She believes because she "see's the innate good in people" and of course some random bullchit about how God has helped in her life. Like, genius, good things happen in everyone's life. So how do I account for mine as an atheist?

God loves all people equally - that is to say that God's love in not like that of man - God's love is perfect.

Being a Christian won't make you rich in fact you'll struggle more - it will allow you to spend the after life with the Lord Jesus however.

If that is what you wish.

Religion is pure cope. There's zero evidence of it being true, and deep down they know that, but they tell themselves it's true anyway because it makes them feel better. They even have the gall to say they "know" it's true despite having zero evidence. They're not logical people

The thing is, even science has barely scratched the surface on understanding the universe. Believing there is a creator is not that farfetched, considering.

Most don't. There are a few examples of out the mouth religion in this very forum.

You're right. But believing that a guy built a boat that could house 7 of each type of animal is a much farther fetch.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

I know a lot of people who believe in God. Thats how they live.

I find this kind of an odd question considered your dating a Muslim.

Are you going to try and make her atheist?
You are your thoughts. Life is perception, thoughts are perception, perception is reality ergo thoughts are reality, I think therefore I am.
08/08/2011. the day the aesthetics died. never forget.

You can't blame them, it's been ingrained into every aspect of their lives since birth it's become their identity and without it i'd imagine they would struggle to live day to day.

Why is believing in a creator not farfetched? I think it just adds more questions. Where tf did this creator come from?

No I show nothing but respect to her faith. But the whole situation has made me think more about religion and why people believe what they do.
