So I already graduated for engineering (software). However, I am taking some more classes... in Artificial Intelligence now, for implementation and design (Deep learning, etc)


We have two black people in our class, both men. One is an african immigrant, has the african accent. The other is a black american.


We had presentations due.


The african immigrant is the most polite dude in the class, more polite than even me. He is organized, intelligent, and did an excellent job with his presentation and thesis. You can tell this man is well prepared and is no dummy.

However... now the black american's turn... and I couldn't help but laugh at the huge difference.


Here's why I made this thread, about the black american :

- He missed more than half the classes, and the Professor almost dropped him so he showed up on the last possible day before getting dropped. Prof told him he was about to get dropped that same day, and he was lucky, and he needs to catch up.

- On the times he does show up, he is never there for attendance, which is 5 minutes after class start time. I have never heard him respond to his name called in attendance.... and when he has shown up, he makes up some new excuse every time. Professor has been so lenient with this guy.

- Anyway, Presentations are due. Everyone is ready, load up their powerpoints, videos, etc. When it's his turn, his presentation files don't work. He tries to troubleshoot during class, while he is up on deck and we're waiting.

- After about 5 minutes, he finally finds the right files on his pc.

- Finally figures out the right files, Now, he starts. We all have a limit of 10 minutes per presentation. Professor didn't count his troubleshooting time, so he has 10 minutes like everyone else. Dude goes on and on in boring monotone voice and brings up AI discrimination, racial profiling, in facial recognition software. So... he's race hustling. Presentation is doo doo.

- He is the first person to go over the 10 minute mark, in the whole class. Professor has to cut him off. He then asks for a little more time for a final statement. And then proceeds to keep talking for another 2-3 minutes as if Professor didn't tell him to end at 10 minutes.

- Professor has to once again cut him off. We have to move on. This guy once again says he will give a final statement. Proceeds to go on again.

- Professor this time cuts him off for the third time and says we are moving on now, no more statements, and had to strong arm the guy to end this.


Like. LOL

The african immigrant, with his african accent, is so polite, well dressed, and responsible. Never misses class, always on time, and clearly intelligent.


The black american... well.. these are introductory classes into Artificial Intelligence... I don't think he will get very far.


What a way to reinforce stereotypes.

Black culture in America is one of the ugliest things ever to develop.

And now the weather..
