Best underwear for running

As many of you know, I'm a keen runner and aiming to break the sub 20 minute 5k soon.

Just curious what underwear runners use? I used to run in tight boxer briefs but this would generally result in a mild heat rash after every run.

Yesterday I ran with very loose boxers on but my thighs are all bruised up from my John Thomas flopping around. Any suggestions?
