What would you do if you were in a mall and someone whipped a gun out?

What would you do if you were in a busy shopping mall and a madman whipped a gun out a strech down from you and started gunning people down?

Try to escape as fast fast as possible? Attack in hopes it works? Shoot back? Try to play vigilante?
