Anyone else keep their A/C cold AF?

I set mine to like 63°F srs. The colder the better.

I keep it at 77f and a fan blowing on me, feels cold.

I would recommend you figure out what capacitor your A/C unit uses and buy backups for it before it fails (edit: I live where it's 120f+, I don't want to be waiting on delivery when this part fails). It's easy to change out and is often what is the problem when your A/C stops putting out cold air. The capacitor is a wear part, it will eventually fail. Having a professional do it will cost substantially more...in the hundreds. The part is ~$20 dollars and takes minutes to replace.

This is good advice.

Living in AZ area, they go out sometimes yearly it seems.

HVAC guys will charge you $600 or MORE to replace this $20 part, that you can do yourself IF you watch youtube vids, know how to shut off power, and do the replacement SAFELY. may take you 15 mins.

Good advice, but in my case I’m running the central air in an apartment building so maintenance is out of my control. Pretty modern building though.

I keep it 74 and 82 when I'm out of the house. And that feels like splurging.

Used to keep it 78 when in the house, growing up my dad would keep it 78 in the day and OFF at night.

Not fat, but how did you know I have high blood pressure?

Don’t think that’s the reason tho. I’ve always been more accustomed to cold weather. I won’t wear a coat until it’s literally below freezing. Growing up in the snow belt will do that to ya.

I live in Louisiana. Its pretty hot here but the big issue is the humidity with the heat. Still summer temps are typically 90-100 degrees with extremely high humidity.

Keep my AC on 68 at night. 70 during the day now. Don't give a F what the bill costs. I don't want to sweat or be hot in my house. Also don't wear much in my house. Just boxer briefs. GF just wears panties and a XL t shirt.

I have a window unit I keep in my garage. My AC goes out I can pop that sucker in my bedroom and keep it 68 degrees so I can watch tv/sleep cool. TBH if the central unit would be out more then 24h I'd pick up a second window unit for my living room/dining room area too. You can get a window unit for fairly cheap.

you must be fat af if youre setting your ac below 72. And gahdamn my ac bill was $50 more this month which is nutz because we usually just set it to 73.

I have never had ac and never really needed it.

Moving to az next month so will see how that works out. Just got back and of course it was hot as balls so had it cranked in the hotel.

I kind of want to use the heat as a personal challenge so will try to not make it too cold so i can acclimate to the heat better but will see. Easy to say that from san diego.

We keep the central AC at 77-78. If it's super hot out and getting stuffy in living room I'll put the fan on to move the air around. We have a floor unit in the master bedroom because the central unit is really old and doesn't cool the upstairs as well and I need it pretty cold to sleep. The bedroom AC goes down to 63-65 at night and 78 in day.

If you are cooling a large space its hard for AC units to get that much colder than the outside temperature.
