They probably don't have a good shot even if everyone agrees and the DNC goes smoothly. But they'd have a shot.

However, if this turns into a free for all with everyone challenging everyone else trying to be the nominee it's 100% over for this party lmao

I would assume that's why they waited and Biden immediately designated Harris as his successor.

They don't want a power struggle which would rip the party apart.

They probably told major donors and people in key positions of power throughout the party several days ago and are holding conference calls right now to get everyone else in line.
