Southwest Airlines will go to assigned seating

Personally that was my favorite part of that airline. The seats are more comfortable than other budget airlines and as long as you didn't check in at the gate you could get a window or aisle seat without much trouble.

Had to be done.

When half of every flight is people using wheelchairs claiming to be disabled so they can board first to get a good seat, it tends to cause problems.
BTW most of those same people miraculously don't need wheelchairs to get off the plane.

Southwest workers even have a name for it. Jetway Jesus or the Southwest Miracle. Lulz.

Flew southwest yesterday

There was 6 people on wheelchairs had to wait for all these people to board before we even began lmao

I only flew Southwest once back in 2020 and it was by far the best flight I ever had srs. Smooth, spacious, clean. Getting on and sitting wherever you want like the bus or Amtrak was fantastic. Not sure if it was because we were in peak Covid, but the plane was half empty so I had an entire row to myself. I flew home on Delta a week later though and it was crammed/uncomfortable.

They dun goof’d.

Wasn't Southwest the airline that put out a memo that "white" is ALWAYS to be lowercase while "Black" is ALWAYS to be capitalized?

Yes but on other airlines boarding first does not get you the best seat on the aircraft because seats are assigned at other airlines.

I agree, Southwest always had a premium feel, doesn't even feel like a budget airline, just a slightly different premium airline.

Compare that to Spirit or Frontier which is like riding a city bus with pig iron seats.

Yes but other airlines have assigned seating, so getting onboard first doesnt guarantee you a free window seat / exit seat by being first...


Other airlines, the handicaps get on first only because of mobility, and have to sit in the seat they paid for.

Yes. But they already have assigned seats. If they want a premium seat they pay more.
Southwest is open seating, but they have a "business class" where you pay more to board first and get a good seat, than A-List where you board in the A group and typically get a decent seat.
Half of B groups and C groups will get seats towards the back of the plane and middle seats. 1 or 2 wheelchairs are not an issue. There have been flights with 25+ wheelchairs boarding. An attendant HAS to
push the person on the plane (by law) so everything slows down. Now the business class is boarding in the middle of the plane, and A-List is boarding in the back. The airlines run out of wheelchairs and people to push them.
It really is a growing problem - caused by cheap-ass lazy people who don't think they have to play by the rules.

Damn, I remember when Southwest Airlines was basically the Spirit Airlines of the 2000s. Everyone used to complain about the cramped seats, the bad service, every flight had like 8 stops, etc

Either they got their **** together or the bar has been lowered

I used to love Southwest -- cheap flights and could get direct from where I am to just about anywhere in the states, no additional fees for basics things like checking a bag or even taking a carryon, and no fees to change your flight (vs. like $125 or whatever for Delta/American/etc). The no assigned seating was typically not even a big deal, just had to remember to check in as soon as it opened 24 hours before your flight and you'd get something in the As and would have your pick of seats. I've only flown once after COVID though, and all indications are in the last few years Southwest has seriously lost their way. I would actually be hesitant to fly Southwest now, solely based on their numerous recent safety issues. It's just a matter of time before something goes really badly.

I flew Southwest a lot in 2020 I actually miss those days...flew up to NOVA to visit a good friend of mine, and my flight literally had 20 passengers for a 737 it was epic almost everyone had their own row, and i stretched out and took a nap. Only thing that sucked was the fed mandated masks at the airport, but could've been worse. The security lines were also only like 10 min wait max, and I'm in ATL. Lol at ppl that were scared to go outside, because of the minor case of the flu.

Fuark ya brah. I flew almost the same route just in reverse srs lol. From NY to DC to ATL. Those days were the best man. I haven’t flown since December 2021 and don’t intend to again as long as I can help it lmao. On spread.

Cripplecels board first, slowly and sit in front. Cause takeoff to be delayed.

Cripplecels exit plane slowly too since they're all the in front, cause everyone to miss connections. Happened to me twice in one week

It's also the seat savers. People board early then save their entire row of seats even if they aren't traveling with anyone, or if they are, only one upgrades to business and then saves the whole row for the rest of their travelers in economy. If the plane isn't full, you'll get a whole row to yourself, and if anyone challenges you on it, both people get kicked out. Southwest tried, but too many people are a$$holes for a free-for-all system to work.

I see, that makes sense. I've only ever flown southwest once years ago and I don't remember the seat thing.

This sounds like Disney and people wearing knee braces to skip lines.

Yes, kids flying alone, MS or walking(ADA) issues because they take so long to get seated.
Imagine that high pressure line to get to the seat with overhead luggage and a handicapped person holding up the line.
