For people who don't believe in psychwards, what is the solution for this?

So this guy is obviously insane and incapable of taking care of himself or functioning in society. I've known a few people like this in the past... What's the other option? Just cycle them through jail until they kill somebody and lock them away for life. That's basically all society does now.

Cliffs:

-crazy 69 yearly old man who claims to be a billionaire gets trespassed from smoke shop, not charged with anything
-tells the cop he's a black belt in karate and judo
-cop ignores him and just tells him to leave
-crazy guy starts throwing chit at cop and cop arrests him for assault and battery, his 9th arrest within a couple years
-tells cop he's gonna sue for billions
-gets released only to be arrested for assaulting a cop again shortly after
-tells social worker at jail he wants to decapitate and eat cop
-tears his clothes to make necklaces and bracelets in jail, loses clothing privileges
-claims to have a 100m dollar contract with Amazon and private jet for all his mistresses

We need to bring back asylums. That's the answer. That's also the answer to the homeless problem.

"Asylums" never went anywhere. We just dont call them asylums anymore. Long term mental health facilities have existed and still do exist today.

Seems like a fair solution unless you have a woke judge. I live on Miami beach and apparently we have one of those types here... Some homeless dude had been arrested like 50+ times in recent years but never did any real time. Just catch and release until he beat some homeless trans persons face in with a steel pipe. The media tried to play it off as a hate crime until the details came out

Yeah, but they're usually voluntary. Problem is crazy people don't know they're crazy.

Not always voluntary bappa. But they have to make sure the people belong there. You're taking someones freedom away. Similar to jail/prison but these people are already suffering so they arent just willy nilly tossing people in there. Theres a lot of "evidence" needed to send someone to a place like this, which is a good thing, otherwise people could just make up chit about people they didnt like to get them sent to a long term mental health facility.
