Why do people use phone cases?

Decades of R&D has made phone sleeker, thinner and lighter. Then everyone proceeds to slap a massive case on the phone that sets it back 10 years.

Rather spend $5 per month on comprehensive insurance and just replace if it gets smashed.

That said I've never used a phone case and eventually smash every phone I've ever bought. Currently about 1 year into ownership of latest phone and no cracks yet. Dassit mayne.

This^^^ But I'm old too. Hate having things cluttering my pockets so just a phone with 2 credit cards and my Photo ID is all i need. Cash/other cards I keep in my truck.
