MISC, do I sell my EV for a fossil car???? (car guys gtfih!!!!! reps)

Currently own a Volkswagen ID.5 (2023) electric vehicle. Was bought "on a whim" as our old beater Volvo V70 bit the dust last fall, and we needed a car pronto. As my GF was working in bumfuk nowhere, she couldn't test drive it. She did however use a VW ID.4 for work, which she liked. So we sprung for the ID.5 which was selling new for a nice price - $42K (Norway). Looking back, we probably should've thought things through a bit more, because we can't have a charger at home. Which means we have to charge at charging stations at much higher rates. At to this that we live far north, and during winter the charging times get ridiculous (well over an hour) aka more expensive, and the energy consumption doubles, more or less (from 14-15 kWh/100km during summer to 28-30kWh/100km winter in mixed driving). Another annoying thing is that the charging stations basically always has some issues, and best case scenario its still like 30 minutes to "fully" charge (to 80%).

80% of new cars being sold in Norway are fully electric. Most fossil fuel or hybrid cars are no longer offered, because all the rave is EV. At the same time, the government has been taking away a lot of the incentives to buy electrical vehicles. Right now, toll fees are 30% less for electrical vehicles (used to be free, then it became 50%, now its 30%). Probably only a matter of time before its the same price. During holidays, huge lines form around charging stations. I'm sick and tired of it, and I want a fossil fuel car again.

So, we looked at RAV4, Mazda CX-60 and Suzuki Across. All plug in hybrids, however the CX-60 comes with a pure diesel engine as well. Unfortunately, these cars are like $20k more expensive than our current ID.5. And also overkill for our needs.

Enter the 2020 Mazda 3, with only 11,5k miles on the odometer. Priced at $29k USD. I'm considering trading the ID.5 in for it, which would involve taking some brutal losses on the ID.5.

Would this be super stupid or nah? TY

Cut your losses while you can, those EVs are only going to tank in value the longer you have it. That and/or your gas/diesels are going to be increasingly harder to come by.

Well, because we're renting at a location where it would be costly and likely not accepted by the houseowner to get the required power to our spot. We're staying for at most 2 more years, so even asking the landlord for permission to install something like that feels abrasive. If we didn't get such a sweet deal on this place (around 50% of the cost of any other, comparable apartment), we would just move somewhere with charging ports already available.

1room, 600sqft. Its too small for us, but again rent is so cheap compared to what we could get elsewhere so until we're moving out of town / buying a home, its too good to pass up.
