Some grim economic news came across my feed this morning:

U.S. stock futures are bleeding red across the board. Market crash incoming?

Japan stocks plunged 6%, biggest drop since Covid hit.

Non-farm payrolls for July came at 114K, FAR BELOW estimated 176K, lowest level since January 2021.

The unemployment rate jumped to 4.3% from 4.1%, ABOVE estimated 4.1%.

Fed did not lower interest rates as inflation continues to stick.

Most alarming, the SAHM Rule Indicator has triggered.



We’ve never NOT seen a recession when it triggered.

Funny that just earlier this week I was reading articles about how we achieved a soft landing. Now it looks like we’re headed into the election under a legit recession. As if things couldn’t get any more interesting…

This is actually looking pretty bad srs. Unemployment has been rising for 4 months straight, wage growth has slowed to its lowest point in 3 years, the Dow Jones is down 1200 points in 2 days.

Could be good news for Trump. He needed a momentum shift and this puts the heat back on Harris since her admin’s economic policy will be held responsible when people lose their jobs.

Historically when the Sahm indicator is triggered, a recession hits within one quarter. Will September’s rate cut delay the inevitable?
