I still remember the "down time" in the early-mid 90's. You rewatched the same VHS tape over and over if there was nothing good on TV. It could be boring. The 12 year old me would have killed to have a platform like YouTube to watch car videos and some of the awesome content, any movie or song at your fingertips, a phenomenal camera in your pocket, etc. Don't get me wrong, I think the early 2000's was peak and MySpace the beginning of the end, but I think we take a lot of what we have right now for granted.

Too bad it's all designed for addiction, misinformation, and data harvesting

Nah. Internet is a natural evolution for any species that is intelligent. They'll all have to go through some internet-phase.

Might as well be us. Let's ride it out and see where it takes us. It could lead to a crazy AI utopia in about 15 years if we don't all die first from war (srs)

I mean if we are speaking literally… Pushing that button would cluster fuk the entire world lmao.

We wouldn't just revert to pre-internet selves lmao. It'd be absolute chaos. So much infrastructure around the planet relies on internet now. The average Todd who literally relies on his phone for 80% of what he does…
Suicide rates would skyrocket before they leveled out. There are entire crafts at my job that couldn't exist without internet. Millions would be out of work overnight.

Just absolute global chaos if that **** disappeared over night.
