I'm actually starting. Had my last bit on Saturday. So far so good. I don't consume that much anyways so the crash hasn't been brutal.

Idk for me when I wanna stop something, I go all in. Tapering never works for me I'll just be consuming it normally.

I simply stopped using it. I'll go through periods where I don't use any caffeine at all (4-6 months) and then I'll drink black coffee in extreme moderation the rest of the year (one or two cups in the morning with my work crew). Sleep is noticeably better those months when I use no caffeine.

If you want to read something on how bad caffeine actually is for you, this was a great book. It's available as a free PDF somewheres on the internet if you wanna spend 2 minutes searching for it.

I could live with the headache but my bowels depend on caffeine for my morning poop so quitting is out of the question

Back when I was consistently working night shifts, I was using 800-1000mgs of caffeine/day from a mixture of preworkout, energy drinks, and coffee. I'd call that fairly addicted.

I never understood how people get that up in numbers. I'm good with like a cup and 2 max of coffee in the mornings. I feel like I'm tweaking if I have more than 2 cups.

12-16 hour shifts on top of a 60 minute commute on top of working night shift is how you'd get there. I'd be able to fall asleep after drinking a full cup of coffee on the weekends.

Why quit? I used to have the caffeine headaches

Still drink coffee but just one cup in the morning and one around 2pm maybe like 24 oz total. If I skip a day, don’t get a headache anymore

Used to drink two Celsius a day or some kind of energy drink then pre workout. Ever since a week ago, I've been weaning off caffeine drinking cold brewed green tea in the morning and taking a 1/2 scoop of pre workout for the gym. Total caffeine content would be given or take 150mg daily.

I give up caffeine every Lent (40 days) and sometimes go longer srs.

The withdrawals last like 10 days tops. After that, I don’t crave caffeine. For me, there is zero difference in sleep or how I feel during the day. Energy drinks are getting more expensive here, so the one benefit is a bit of savings.

It's my one vice. I've given it up completely for several months at a time, but I always come back. Energy drinks taste so good. I went through a period of only drinking coffee with high quality beans, my own grinder, etc for the best cups of coffee.

But the formula for quitting longer term is to taper off if you consume more than 400mg a day. What I did was buy the 110mg white monsters and drank 3 a day for 2 days (mon/tues), then 2 day for 2 days (wed/thur), then 1 on friday, 1 saturday morning maybe, the nothing the rest of saturday and sunday. You'll have some withdrawl symptoms still, but usually this way it is just a little brain fog, sleeping more and feeling tired. You avoid the headaches this way and then each day the following week you feel better and better.

The other tip if you drink energy drinks like me is to find something to replace the taste for at least 2 week after you stop caffeine. Because you're also probably addicted to the sweetner.
