There's this massive # of people behind the scenes making depressing wages (less than 40k/y) which doesn't seem properly accounted for..

Seems to be due to how frequent the taxes are not reported in that range and skewers what people consider "normal money".

In most places, for example, majority of tip based workers do not report tips. thats a huge chunk of the workforce. Then there's cash/daily labor, minority run buisnesses with hidden workforces

(Asian establishments are generally tight knit with a very low### of reported workers, some make little $$$ and are paid via room&board)

In every city, the line is easily drawn where the so called "Average" life starts. Where people with college degrees, govt workers, and your run-of-the-mill salary fields are.

These "average" areas arefront loadedin nearly every statistic snapshot. In fact, i don't beleive that the census beurou is thourough at all in the areas falling outside of "Average" - no one really wants to go to those areas to survey them and those people can be hostile about being surveyed.

cities and metro areas are dense, its true. And make up an enourmous chunk of the population.

however- those areas can be cut into 1/3 of thier mapped size/borders, with the other 2/3rds being in thedark.

The network of intellect and the so called "median" is skewered as hell becouse of this.
