Making a shelf in my garage - Carpenters GTFI.

Thinking of the following dimensions.

2.4 - 2.5 meters tall
2.4 - 2.6 meters wide
30 cm deep

Perhaps 5 shelves from top to bottom.

Plan on using 2 by 4 (45mm x 90mm) timbers for skeleton and 25 MM MDF for the shelfs, reinforced by the 2 by 4 timbers.

Obviously the shelf is narrow, so I'll have to attach some L shaped brackets to the top of the shelf and use these to attach the shelf to the brick wall.

Thoughts?

Why not use a wire rack shelf? They are around $100 and will last a lifetime. Unless you are just looking for a project…

They're not big enough. I'm planning to cover almost the whole left side of the garage with these shelves - so make 2-3 of them.

Needed to get these off the garage floor and made this last weekend. DIY crew. Cost about $15 for materials.

I'd make them free standing. I don't like holes in my walls. Also, easier to move if needed.

Decided to probably just go with 3 of these $200 aud 2 x 2 x 0.3 meter shelves.



Making a wooden shelf like this would cost me at least $600, where as I can do 6 meters of shelving for $600 this way.
