Contacted the bjj/judo gym and new barber shop

Hopefully this barber got skills. Booked the top barber at the shop. Leaving my old guy cause he keeps cutting my head and I never seen someone spray the clippers once.

Contacted the bjj/judo gym today. Waiting to hear back. Hoping to join. From what I gather they are pretty full. damn. They should give me an audition. I can for sure toss some twinks around.

Thanks Asian Mike.

The gym is 120 a month. Two classes a week. Pretty steep. Still going for a trial. 120 is the going rate ??

120 for two classes a week seems steep.

A ufc mma gym (mt, bjj, wrestling, unlimited classes) in my area is 110 cad iirc.

Two classes a week sucks. You want at least 3 days a week from what I've read.

Give me some tips on these bjj guys. I m def going to have size and strength on them. What should I watch out for ? I want to humble a few of them day 1. I know they are going to keep tying to arm bar me, choke, ankles lock, etc. any other advice ? I was a white belt and haven’t gone in years.

You are not going to humble them at their own game on day one, and you shouldn't want to you are there to learn
Despite that if you are determined to show them up, they cant do **** if you are not on the ground. Spawl when they try and take your legs, maintain a solid base and low centre of gravity to assist. Im a Judoka, and my bro is a state BJJ champ, yet he cant take me down because we can root ourselves to the ground with weight placement srs

I hear you but at the same time I m not letting them pin me or tap me unless they earn it. I never let someone just dominate me cause I m new.

Solid advice. I m very familiar with sprawling as I was a white belt years ago. I ll keep this in mind.

So you think I m better off staying on the ground ?

Yes,I would try to stay off the ground if you dont remember any of what you were taught as a white belt.
Probably most BJJ gyms start their drills from the ground to begin with though, so staying off the ground might not work in this instance.

Nice bro. Two classes a week isn’t enough . Going rate is -120-200$ but that should be a loaded scheudl.e. Judo only clubs should be even cheaper. $60 month I thought. Even if you don’t train more than twice a week you want lots of options. It’s a hard skilll to improve at twice a week. I think three + is good. I prefer no gi and mma focused grappling these days but gi is still a cool sport. Gl have fun
