Who here follows AI? (LLMs and more)
Are there any fellow AI enthusiasts here?
Do you know about GPT-4o and it's advanced chat features or even Nvidia's new AI, or the AI that can predict folding proteins better than anything before?
Humans are on the brink of the biggest technology advancement they've ever seen and maybe 5% of the worlds population knows it. Life in 15 years won't be recognizable. I follow it all

I realistically don't see that happening.
It will be a slow advancement and if technology does start to take jobs, as has always been, new sectors will pop up and allow people to work in them.
Even in sectors where that does happen, the job won't be "lost", something else will be doing it (AI) so the production will continue, costs will just go down for the owner, which means their product or service will still be available, they can just be cheaper since their hard costs are down.
It might actually create this utopia where most things become significantly cheaper because everything is so easy to build and maintain. srs

Do you figure that the US government already has a fully functional A.I yet? They always seem to be ahead of the public in technology. I personally think those tic-tac UFO's are AI controlled drones.

From what I've seen it's mostly good for cheating on homework, creating bots to ruin internet forums even further, and putting graphic designers and stock traders out of business.
I really hope it doesn't get better because I could see my job going on the chopping block sometime in the 2040s (pilot)

The government is usually ahead but that's usually on military & spy technology. Stuff like this (LLMs and such) are private market and private companies (that we're familiar with) are probably on the bleeding edge of this technology.
There is more advanced stuff in the works but it's probably owned by OpenAI and similar companies. Government is probably testing it's military applications and they played a military leader on the board of oAI recently, probably for oversight.

Industry/job proneness to automation and thus elimination of job opportunities within it.

That's pure cope, and naturally what we want to do, because the other option is panic and chaos.
It's going to be uncharted territory. I think UBI is not gonna happen just due to the greedy nature of the elites/governments but what choice is there if there is a 30-50% unemployment rate?
