The fuk? Olympic shot putter Joe Kovacs has some insane lifts

Keep in mind this guy is training purely for explosive power and weighs about 300 pounds. Dude benches 770x2 on a 2 board and makes it look pretty easy. Also squatting 870x4 in sleeves. Obviously it's not to powerlifting standards but dudes not a powerlifter. Dudes a freak and could probably set powerlifting records if he trained for it. Could probably win worlds strongest man if he trained for that as well.

I think it's naive to think the guy is natural. But dude still has to pass drug tests year round, so you know he has to take some time off and isn't on a heavy blast year round like pro strongmen who dont get tested at all… Dude is just a freak.

That's not how it works. Certain people don't even get tested or they're given special preference.

Yeah at the Olympics for sure. Idk about USA track and field though…. You think he's taking grams of gear like strongman heading into competition?

I mean, a 300 pound olympic athlete who can push a ball, the same weight as a regulation bowling ball, 76 feet. I'd be concerned if his lifts weren't top tier.

I'm not saying he wouldn't do well but the autistic dude from Scotland has one 3 of the last 4 and the one he didn't win I think he slacked a little cause he had been so dominant and IIRC that was the year his gf/wife couldn't make the trip (like unexpectedly) and it threw him off mentally

I am not saying the testing is stringent but WSM does drug test the guys. In fact it was only a few years ago that they got weed taken off the banned substance list for WSM

Lol pro strongman is about as clean as pro bodybuilding. Those guys take mega doses of anadrol, superdrol, and halotestin… They probably claim to test so the athletes don't openly talk about their cycles like bodybuilders do. None of them would pass any kind of real drug test. Not that I care, natural strength sports are boring imo. Would rather watch super human freaks

Then he was a moron. They can take gear, they just have to piss clean for the test. They all know when it's coming then it's free game to blast after that.

Would love to see his dosages and his meal plan.

Pretty sure tons of people would follow it and realize they will not be that.

They seem to set a guy up once in a while to make it seem legit.

Remember Lance Armstrong? Dude supposedly pissed clean for years, but he was cranked up on all kinds of things. Was he just taking short-acting compounds, or did they just put on a show about actually testing him?

TL;DR Everyone in pro sports is on something. The powers that be know it, and allow it, mostly, to help enhance the spectacle.

Those are the kinda lifts Jason Genova would have if he didn't have 5 car accidents, 2 airplane crashes, 3 train derailments and 2.5 surgeries
