Higher resolution images = higher file size. Newer phones that take higher resolution images also have higher storage capacity.

Also, the average file size of a 4k photo is about 5-10mb, not under 1mb. No idea where you're pulling that figure from.

This shiit is to discourage people from recording history

They don’t want people documenting and screen recording every single little thing they interact with (easier to erase history)

Otherwise it would be in jpg
