The Crow tracking for a weak $6-9 million weekend

https://variety.com/2024/film/box-of...nd-1236112687/

$50 million budget. Could be a flop.

The movie looks pretty bad, would have been better off as a Netflix or prime movie

"Could be???"

I don't know why they keep trying to make these crow movies, just leave the original movie alone, and let it be a stand alone classic.

When you take Pennywise and make him Leto's Joker larping as Eric Draven, it deserves to fail.
They missed.

Skaarsgard's look is like the Wish.com version of Leto's Joker. No thanks, it's not for me. I'll stick to watching the original.

It was a terrible idea to do The Crow again since it’s synonymous with Brandon Lee’s death. I get it’s a comic book but still.

I read a few comments on Reddit that the trailer is bad, but the few that seen an early screening said it's actually way better than they expected an that they didn't market it well enough. Either way I'll give it a watch

The Crow released today

Reviews actually didn't come out until 7PM because the studio put an embargo that reviews couldn't be released before then (very odd)

But the reviews are not good

Howdy Dave….

Agreed.
Seems remakes/re-imagined garbage is popular these days.
Totally uninteresting drivel to me.

Excuse my ignorance, but I do wonder what happened to the desire for original story line creativity with the big film makers.
I don't get it.

But, that's just me.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Carry on.

Modern culture can't appreciate the crow, and I highly doubt anything produced by modern culture is anything more that "IP mining" as described by Disney CEO bob Iger in their quarterly reports to investors.

I'm not watching ANY remake.

Except dune. The original was a hack.

I've seen it now.

It's just OK. Not terrible and not good. It has some redeeming features, and at least tries to do its own thing and not be a carbon copy of the original.
Back off, Warchild.

Seriously.

The Crow director responds to backlash (basically says the critics need to get a life)

“I think a lot of people are very active online and not so active in life. Get out and do something and have less time throwing stones.

I think it would be great just for people to know that this is a reimagining and wildly different from the original and that the original’s still there. I haven’t recorded over anyone’s VHS.

You can still go and see that movie, and I hope this movie resonates with people who loved that movie when they were in their teens. This is my version of that text. It was my adaptation of James’s graphic novel, which I loved.”

FYI

The Crow did very badly at the box-office. It debuted at #8, with only $4.6 million . The budget was $50 million, so a massive bomb

This is just an immature and butthurt response to criticism. You can't make a movie without attracting critics. The dude just didn't make a good movie and he needs to own it, and he should have thought twice about remaking a timeless movie which didn't need remaking, even if he did his own thing with it.

He's basically just yelling "NEEEERRRRRRRRDDDS" at the critics which is just stupid and immature.
