Misc, how do I deal with mowing a large property (~20 Acres)

My grandparents use to own about 20 acres of land, but they're long dead. The grass is about 3' tall and now the city is sending letters saying its a fire hazard and it needs to be cut. I have the equipment to take care of it, but there are an endless amount of large rocks and stones in these fields, so I can't just take a riding lawnmower to it or I risk phucking up my blades, or worse yet, causing a spark starting a fire. Icouldjust raise the height of the blade on the mower, but some of these stones are decorative and large (basketball/beachball sized)so even the max height wouldn't be high enough

Option 1 is to walk the entire field with a wheel barrel or something and pick up all those stones (which would be a multiday job all on its own) and I can still miss some of them

Option 2 would be to cut 20 freakin' acres with a weed-eater which would take forever-and-a-day.

There has to be an easier way besides those two options.

Thoughts? This is the tiny amount I started, but I have ALL that chit all in the distance (and behind me not pictured) to do as well, lol.

Ride on mower, go around the large rocks.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

With 20 acres of grass why not let some farmer with cattle come harvest it? You might even be able to get money out of it. Go ask some farmers.https://www.cattletoday.com/threads/...-prices.87130/

But I can't see them. Thats the problem. The grass is low in the picture, but as you go further out the grass is thick and about 3ft tall.

Hm, I may have to look into this. I'm not a farm-hand so I don't know much about tending to properties larger that what you'd find in suburbia. I think I may be able to rent one.

Do a controlled burn, be ready with a garden hose in case it starts to go beyond the perimeter

As.already said it needs to be brush hogged. Highly doubt its 20 acres of open field by the way.

As someone who doesn't do this for a living, why not just take it slow, plot it in a grid, and take care of it in sections? 3' tall grass doesn't grow over night. Just take a few hours/day for like a week and do it without renting equipment you don't have etc.

controlled burn was certainly an option, but its not burning season at the moment and as you can see in the image there are powerlines over some parts of the field and I don't want to burn the wires.

We have land in the mountains and we pay someone to clear it a few times a year.

This is something you don't do yourself, makes no sense

property assessment listed it at about 19.3 acres. There's a ton of land not shown in the photo behind me.

A tractor with a mower implement that attaches to a PTO would do it. You'd have to mark the rocks in advance, maybe drive fence post by each of them. If you marked all the hazards you might get someone who would cut it with a swather. A guy down the road from us knocks his weeds down once every couple months with one. Bailed it too, last time.

Step1: pay somebody to remove the rocks.

Step2: mow it yourself after that.

Removing the rocks is a one time deal, so just pay somebody to do it and then you can mow it regularly yourself.

Lease it out to a farmer to graise cattle/sheep on it.
A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.

The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."

The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."

That looks like one big fire hazard. Even with a bush hog and its' metal blades, you could get in a world of shiiit real quick.

Maybe rent a walk behind string trimmer. They'll take about a 30 inch cut. Still take you forever and a day, but you and your neighbors will be safe.
