Does anybody else here LOL at personal trainers?

In Australia you need a community college qualification to become a PT (certificate 3 nad certificate 4 in fitness) and in the end you just sit there monitoring some uninspired, lazy idiot lift weights at 50% capacity.

I guess being a PT is fine if you're a chick or something, but a man should study a trade like carpentry, bricklaying, fabrication (welding), plumbing, electrician, HVAC, etc.

Most PTs I've met are complete beta *******s too - the pay is also terrible and I don't understand how people make a living as PTs, especially here in Sydney. They must sell drugs/steroids on the side IMO.

I remember making 8k a month as a sales person when I was 25. Even Jeff Seid doesn't make 8k a month and he's the most famous PT out there.

It's common for sales people to hit over 100k a year with 150k being doable. A PT would be lucky to make 60k a year. Besides, you have to pay a bunch of money to the gym you train at to operate legally. I guess you could make your own gym and train clients there, but that takes a certain level of capability that most people do not have and it's risky.

The issue with people being PTs is that they are 'following their passion', but really they have some emotional issue which prevents them working a regular desk job such as an accountant, so they 'follow their dreams', but in reality they just like the attention they get or having access to female clients, etc.

IFBB pro my ass - the whole bodybuilding circuit is a joke. You have a few guys making money and the rest copping a free tub of protein here and there and then doing G4P to afford all the drugs they use.

The only bodybuilders that are successful financially are the ruthless and cunning businessmen who feel the need to overcompensate by lifting and taking juice.

Even the PTs who I've seen around that just lift and juice (blast and cruise most likely) and lie about it, get mogged by the random tradie that does a cycle here and there before going to Bali, stereosonic, or soem sh*t.

Theyre probably certified personal trainers; who knows how to train people from different backgrounds and skill levels.

If there are not certified, they would only know the workouts that work for them, and there is no way a beginner can follow that.

I'd imagine there are Personal Trainers who are like the defacto "Boyfriend" for a bunch of older ladies 35-60 years old and bang them every couple weeks. It's probably a decent deal all things considered.

Spent many years in the industry and there are pros and cons.

Pros are you get to work in a gym and have access to it. Most of your coworkers are hot young women and you get paid a decent hourly rate to basically coach regular people and chat with them. I learned a crap ton about every profession, and networking was fantastic. Got laid a ton when I wasn't in a relationship. Learned a lot as well outside of my regular PT certs which are basically useless, but I was doing high level rehab and special conditions like a physio would.

Cons are the hours - I always said I worked when other people don't. Nobody is taking time away from work to see a PT like they would a therapist. Split shifts sucked, with lots of dead hours in the middle of the day and then working until 7pm. Commercial gym pay was a joke. Also, when you worked at a commercial gym they would pack you in with ten clients a day, which leads to serious burnout.

Once I went independent it was way better. I only had to work 25 hours a week and made six figures. Lots of my clients were long term (ie trained with me 5+ years), so I often didn't have to find any new ones. But I also knew my stuff well, gave great customer service and got results. Lots of PTs aren't business savvy at all. They just want to work in a gym and think it's going to be hot girls and celebrities, not 55 year old housewives who whine about their lives all day.

90% of PTs are useless rep counters. I'd like to think I'm one of the other 10% and they are out there, you just have to find them.

Personal trainers in gyms make bad money, however online trainers make 10x that

A successful online fitness coaching business can scale up to $150k a month if you have >1mil followers like some influencers do.

You need to do some mental self care. What do you care if some dude is a PT? Does that somehow negatively impact your life?

Would it be better if they were unemployed? Why is being a tradie any better?

Sounds like you’re part of the problem in this world pal.

When people go to an IFBB pro for coaching, 90% of the time it's for advanced PED use/sourcing which the regular coach won't have access to

A natural user paying for an IFBB pros advice, all you are going to get is a basic chicken and rice diet and he won't care about you

Trainers at gyms are totally different - very rare will you see a super jacked guy training people, it's mainly fit younger people training rich people wanting to "get in shape"

I've met SOOOO many PTs who think they're the maddest kunts around - they have the egos of surgeons but the qualifications that are worth less than a solid trade such as a plumber or welder.

Not sure that I agree about that. Good tradies are fundamental to a strong society. Personal trainers are a result of a failing society. BRB paying someone to motivate you to not be a fat slob.

PTs get paid like 50k or some sh*t - or they charge a load of money per hour and then have to pay the gym for using their facilities to train clients.

I'm sure someone out there has made it being a PT, but for most people it's slave labour. You may as well just do a regular desk job, but that's not good enough to the typical PT, for reasons that I'd addressed above.

I guess if some guy who works a regular job decides to do PT on the side to supplement their income and train people out of love and passion, I'd respect that - but most PTs are in the same situation as that movie 'Pain & gain'.
