Russia does have some rationality in its claim that journalist are special forces
It's no secret that major news outlets have become indirectly branches of the two party system.
CNN a clear player in the DNC
FOX a clear player in GOP
That said, the 2nd tier (washington post, forbes, ects)
Are often also directly involved in political influencing by design.
If these were in fact, independant news outlets which did not get indirectly funded and conducted by political parties, Putins argument would be null and void.
But the fact of the matter is that journalism at its highest level is a political tool, and therfore in a way "special force" of the government.
