holy fuk SEEDED watermelon is so good

I haven't had it in probably 15 years but picked one up the last two weeks from a local farm honestly I got it last week cause I saw a half with the BBS - big black seeds and it reminded me of the old cartoon tropes of shooting watermelon seeds like a machine gun.

I don't know if it's the seeds or just the fact that it was local but goddamn what a difference it makes in taste

I have been buying from the Amish markets (lancaster PA) in the DC burbs and it is amazing.
Safeway, not so much!

Thats one of the biggest myths that parents would tell their kids in the olden days to prevent them from eating too fast and choking on the seeds. Watermelon is a very fickle plant that needs a special kind of soil and TONS of sunlight, so the belly of an animal sitting in acid is not going to make it grow.

In reality, watermelon seeds are incredibly good for you and second to the rind itself has the most nutrients out of the the entire fruit.

It’s because it’s local. One’s you at chain food store are breed to look big, pretty, and last a long time, so they can be shipped long distances. Plus they’re picked before they’re ripe.
