Is using the word "gay" offensive to you?
when i was a lad growing up it was just second nature to describe something off as "that's gay" but now i'm told it's highly offensive to use such a word even amongst friends when you don't suspect anyone that's actually homesex to be around and you aren't specifically looking to offend anyone.

Nope. I've literally called my brother Fággie since the 1980's and never use his real name.

It offends some people IRL because they have a dyke or f'aggot in the family I just tell them to cry about it.

Usually only women and overly sensitive men will get offended. But most adults have grown out of saying it anyway

Back when the world wasn't so leftie and PC, it was common to throw that and phhaagit around. There was even a character named Boner on growing pains.
Now people cry if you call them he or she.

There was an actual tv commercial in the early 2000’s made to shame teens for saying, “that’s so ghey lulz”
That was Woke-101, now look where we are.
Anything cringy or pathetic should definitely be called ghey

It was normal to use gay because it was a different parallel earth.
OP, how do you spell "dilemna"?
People in this reality spell it with 2 M's.
I swear it all change in 2012. Look up mandela effect and parallel realities.

There's absolutely nothing anyone can say that would be offensive or upset me except of course if I was to hear that someone I care about got hurt or passed away.

I don't mean it in like a different context definition like "I'd never call a gay man a ******* strictly because he's gay" no. I WOULD do that. And I DO mean gay as in gay aka stupid when I say that video is gay.

Even though it's considered "offensive" now, it's way more impactful of an insult because the psychotic narcissist nonce gays of 2024 make the gays of the 90s look quaint and reasonable.

Also the extreme push and attention to dual it's tabooishness up to 11 has given it more intensity than it had in the 90s 00s. Back then it was smooth, soft, easy, not a big deal.
Now it is HUGE, monstrous, dangerous
They gave it more power.

I find it offensive because it's a misuse of the word. Gay means happy. I hope all my kids are gay

Language is bizarre… slurs or deragatory statements disappear usually by ownership of the group or by the group literally decking people for it. You don't go to Italians and call them W*P's or call Irish T*igs or they'll whoop your butt. However, when language is policed… it seems to draw more attention to it and increase it's usage.
The deragatory "gay" slang was falling out of fashion in the early 2010's but hit a resurgence in usage when language became more heavily policed. At the same time, gay acceptance was higher when LGBTQ+ movements were more subtle and politically savvy rather than bombastic and controversial. The Gay March on Washington in 1993 looked nothing like the Gay Pride events we see currently in some cities where nudity, sex acts, rampant drug use, and by extension, crimes are being committed.
I truly and sadly believe the current LGBTQ+ movement has destroyed a lot of the work the gay activists of the 80's and 90's struggled and fought for. Fighting for marriage and adoption rights vs fighting to have drag story time and to have books describing graphic sex in school libraries are wildly different. I don't understand how the movement did not expect considerable pushback and a resurgence of past discrimination.
