Misc: What credit cards do you have?

I've had the target credit card for almost half a decade already and have a Costco Citi but am a secondary user to my other half so I don't think I build credit with it.

Recently just got a chase freedom unlimited and learned about the chase trifecta strategy. I plan on getting a freedom flex then a chase sapphire preferred both after 6 months periods. Also looking at the Bilt MasterCard which gives you points for rent (LMFAO Mortgagecel cucks).

Anyone else play the credit card game?

Southwest airlines visa. Brb never paying for a flight again. All monthly expenses go on the card then pay it off every month to keep zero interest.

No annual fee cards since it doesn’t make sense for us, we travel like once a year and rarely eat out.

I have the Wells Fargo active cash and autograph. Autograph for when we of dine out on the rare occasion and for travel, 3% cash back on both those categories. The active cash is a 2% cash back for everything else.

Also have the Sams Club credit card for 5% back in Sams cash for all purchases in club and 5% back on gas at any gas stations.

This.

I won't say which ones I have, but might've already on the misc at one point. Usually get $1kish worth of travel a year by using my credit card for nearly everything I can. GF has no income yet, so it ends up being split in 2 tbh. But when I was single (and when she gets an income to pay for herself), it covered absolutely everything for like either 1 fancy vacation (cheap flights and fancy hotel room), or a few cheaper nearby vacations (no flights, decent hotel room).

Amex is for poor people who want to appear rich lol

BofA preferred rewards > Amex (only need $100k in BofA accounts to qualify for platinum plus honors)

5.25% back on online purchases, gas, travel, dining
3.5% back at grocery stores
2.63% back on all other purchases

You see the card on the right, you know that person is a real mogger

5.25 is only on one category, you have to choose. And the grocery caps at $2500.

Everyone's spending habits are different but I feel like most people would get the most cash back via churning new card intro offers rather than maintaining a roster of cards to optimize percentages.

Partially true brah. But you’re forgetting that you can get multiple cash back cards that are equivalent to the standard red card (Susan g komen, nature conservancy, etc). Each one has their own rewards cap too allowing you to bypass the quarterly limit more easily

well boy son i'm too content watching my net worth grow as i play the game while being a retiredcel, but if you like counting nickels and dimes juggling credit cards of piss so be it. My chirrens credit scores always went up when they were in school using daddy's cc's though, so being a "secondary user" does improve your credit score of butthole

Lmao you ever been in the Amex lounges? They are pretty slick. I unfortunately spend a decent amount of time stuck in airports and these are a godsend. Either free breakfast/good coffee + a mimosa or 2 in the morning or a nice brew/dinner/old fashion in the evening. I've got the Plat card strictly for the lounge access. I like the Chase preferred card, but I am running out of reasons to keep it. Amex has insane benefits

I didn't know there was something than the 2% WF card I mentioned. So if I move $100k to a Bbank of America investment account I get this card? Does it have big annual fees? Those percents are pretty good

No annual fee, 3% cash back on dining, travel, gas and some more. I mainly just got it for the welcome bonus and to get 3% cash back for when we buy plane tickets once or twice per year.

None. Don't use credit as a crutch, don't fall for their "points" or "cash back" games which just push you to spend more. Pay in cash (debit card).

They really don't push you to spend more if you are responsible and just use the card to pay for things that you'd pay in cash for anyway. If you just look at a credit card as a way to spend more money that you don't have on hand on things that you don't really need, then you're gonna have a bad time.

My kids daycare for example is $1550 a month, might as well put it on my 2% cash back card to get $372 in cash back per year instead of paying by check/debit and not getting anything in return.
