From a quick glance at google it looks like he's getting around $5 million a year for coaching salary.

Now factor in taxes to that which would mean he's really making around $3 million.

Then expenses, bills, cars, house, etc.

Now add $1 million a year to wife.

I'm not saying the guy will be out on the streets and homeless but I just don't see how someone's wife is entitled to that much income. The article said he pays his wife $1 million and $180,000 for the kids. **** makes no sense

The difference is that this life changing instance was because of Fisher. He caused it. He knew that he was screwing his wife AND CHILDREN over. She's getting paid a lot but she deserves it because she did nothing wrong.

That's not even touching the mortgage, car payment, utilities, activities they're in, etc, etc.

I'm guessing their still in Cali, so you really think that $180K is enough for 5 people to live on, based on the lifestyle they're in....that HE set for the family?

Roh-kay. This has been factored into the judgement, so what now? It's her fault they're living in Cali, the kids are in private schools and the things they've been doing are all of a sudden null and void because daddy wanted to publicly cheat and leave his family?

This guy....
What about the lifestyle HE was accustomed to during marriage? Maybe he can no longer accommodate certain things because he never spent that much money on them in the first place and now has to sacrifice certain things due to lack of money. Why is she entitled to the same lifestyle as before, but he isn't?

And don't gimme that bull about him cheating when almost all states have "no fault" divorce laws and youtechnicallycan't use their cheating as leverage against them. Which is why cheating sloots still reap the benefits in a divorce settlement.

The wife doesn't even get half of whats his, so (worst case scenario) she gets half for herself and 4 kids (5 people) and you suggest that with the other half he couldn't live his life he is used to?

You think that new gold digger would be with him if he was suddenly broke because of this? Please ... dude brought it on himself, obviously he is fine with it.

I definitely agree that the amount she is getting is disproportionate to what she needs. However, I definitely do not agree that she needs just enough money not to starve. She gave him 4 kids and was doing everything while he was on the road fukking skanks 9 months a year out of his 20 year NBA career.

1.4 million, nah

you're going off of what is standard today in courts that fk men, HARD.

what he's talking about is realistically that is not even remotely fair. if she has enough money to live and support her children without ever working again, that is more than enough money. say a few grand a month.

$100k/month is enough for her to be living the rich life forever. I guess that's the modern "worth" of it. but it's bull****. "law" has and always will be bull**** make believe.

How can you have anything other than "no-fault" divorce tho?

If my wife stopped putting out for years and years and finally I had an affair, I would be the one "at fault" because I was unfaithful.

No fault is the only way to do it.

Well no in that theoretical you should've just divorced your wife before you had an affair, site irreconcilable differences or w/e and you guys go your separate ways with neither party getting preferential treatment based off their gender.

But that would be "no fault" too then? Am I incorrect in assuming the whole theory behind no fault divorce is that neither person gets preferential treatment? Because the workings of a marriage are too complicated to lay blame on one person or the other?

Lol, correct me if I'm wrong, but someone he said he's worth what....$40 million? I hardly think that's taking a dip into his pot to where he's going to hurt in the traditional sense of someone like you or I would. He'll be fine.

He was definitely accustomed to fine living before this. They had a house for $5.95 million that he just listed, so let's not act like he can't afford this. If they aren't together and she doesn't want to keep a house that big, by all means, downsize, but if she does want to keep herself and THEIR CHILDREN in that home, she is well within her rights to want to keep everything as is, minus him in the home since he chose to walk out.

Thing is, she didn't cheat and walk out on him and the kids....he did, so all that other sh** isn't up for debate. This is about him, not her.

Yeah technically it is. You could make the argument she is at fault because sex is an integral part of a relationship (a relationship w/out sex is called a platonic friendship), but then she might be able to argue you were to blame for the lack of sex and so on. Could turn into a big mess.

IMO there should be no fault and fault divorce as decided by the court (problem here is judges can be pieces of chit that let their own beliefs interfere with their job), that way a gold digging whore (male or female) can't marry someone then cheat on them and single handedly destroy the marriage and still get to take the other person to the cleaners (which basically is a legal form of theft), but there is still the option for both parties to agree it just wasn't working and go their separate way on a no fault ruling.

Or, just don't get married at all since its an archaic outdated system that has outlived its purpose and usefulness.

This doesn't make any sense though. You're saying she has the right to keep everything as is for the sake of the children but she's getting $1.3 million a year and the kids are getting only $180,000 a year in the form of child support. The spousal support is not for the sake of the children, it's for the spouse. She can keep the house and make it as easy as possible for the kids and not get paid $100,000+ a month, the two things are not mutually inclusive.
Thing is, she didn't cheat and walk out on him and the kids....he did, so all that other sh** isn't up for debate. This is about him, not her.
Divorce shouldn't necessarily be a form of punishment, which when you say things like this sorta makes it seem like you think it should be.
